Dee Lee Stevens

          Photo Artist
My degree in fine arts has prepared me with a broad base in all art disciplines. I graduated from Ball State University in Indiana and specialized in interior design. My studies included classes in the architecture department. I had the great advantage of being in Chicago in the seventies and viewing the
John Hancock and Sears Tower as they were constructed.

In my travels, I visited and photographed Frank Lloyd Wright’s buildings, stately Queen Anne and Victorian homes, Art Deco hotels, restored historic and contemporary buildings as well as rustic cabins. My passion is the details, lines and textures of all things architectural. I started painting canvas after canvas of these buildings but teaching art full time in the Seminole County Schools curtailed my ability to pursue
my passion. I couldn’t paint the compositions as quickly as I photographed each potential work and I developed a great  backlog of architectural photos. I used my photographs as examples of the principles of design in my classroom lessons. I finally had to look at the photographs as solid art forms in and
of themselves.

My interest in photography comes with ease. My father was a world traveler and amateur photographer. In his passing, he left us with thousands of slides of his travels. My brother is a motor sports photographer and keeps me up to date with new technologies. So, it is only natural for me to pursue the artistic
end of photography.
